Dead or Alive

“The best part of competition is that through it we discover what we are capable of and how much more we can actually do than we ever believed possible”

The rap life is non-stop competition, people who want to be better than you, do better than you, celebrate their wins over you and hate when they can’t be the one in the light. What a complex world it is to exist in constant state of fighting, for dominance, for creativity, for ability to make moves when tired and still maintain the presence of a megalithic and unforgettable figure. This has been the reality for one such artist for years. The artist was a rapper from the age of 5 and has a reśumé that would put most artists to shame. With an experience of a seasoned vet this young rapper Beans Valentino maintains his presence as a force to be reckoned with in the State of New Mexico, the Southwest in general and is an up and comer in the national arena.

His latest track Dead or Alive is a friendly reminder to his competition that he is still here, still fierce and still killing the game. The production on the track that he’s barking on is very modern, no recollections of boom bap here but still a heavy presence of bars and the right amount of shit talking to keep it right. His cadence is quick but also has some essence of that new era of freshmen rappers. I wouldn’t throw him in the mumble rap genre at all but he definitely sounds like he has some modern influences. He was recently on The Southwest Sixteen in Albuquerque, New Mexico and you can catch his performances on that show highlighting his work. Most imporantly you can catch his work everywhere all music streaming platforms but as always we are honored to feature his work here.
