St. Bedlam

“Your comfort zone is a place where you keep yourself in a self-illusion and nothing can grow there but your potentiality can grow only when you can think and grow out of that zone.”

Imagine a language that transcends class, breaks the barriers between countries, between race and gender and all of the “isms’s” that separate us as people. Imagine being able to communicate with anyone on the planet at any time no matter where or when you exist. This isn’t that foreign of a concept. There are ancient stories about how language was created to separate us and now we are all foreigners to someone if we travel far enough. You can imagine how dialect changes from one region to another within a single state, then imagine how wide the rift becomes when it’s from one region of a country to another. Then imagine how difficult communication becomes when you travel from one country to another, then from one side of the world to the other. There is a way for us to communicate past these barriers. That language is music. The ability to speak to another by exposing a part of your heart and soul with rhythm and words and a musical composition that reaches them in the same place.

Music that transcends border is no easy task. There happens to be one form of music that has grown from the boroughs of New York to an international culture and experience, that form of music is hip hop. Hip hop is now a global experience and it has the ability to connect listeners from country to country with ease. One such artist goes by the name of St. Bedlam. An artist that is a force to be reckoned with. St. Bedlam has complex bars and solid wordplay throughout, also one of the many talented artists in the “Kill the Beat” contest hosted by us here at Arrogant Marketing.

We had a chat with St. Bedlam about the new release named “Midnight Matinee”. The artist known as St. Bedlam is known to record in a comfortable home setup. With this project St. Bedlam took a different approach and recorded in the Illeqwip studio with the legend Prolifik the Gifted, he happened to also mix and master the entire project. St. Bedlam is inspired through a variety of experiences but always gets a hold of a “tasty” beat and just goes all out and creates until it feels right. Known to be a bit obsessive but always aggressive at creating the perfect sound. As a big fan of theatre St. Bedlam was intent on creating a night at the theatre but instead of watching the scenes you listen to it broken down, the narrative coming alive on track. The launch for the project is slated for March 12th at The Lord Gladstone. Follow St. Bedlam by clicking on the social links at the bottom of the page to keep up with the latest and greatest. St. Bedlam has plenty of collaborations on the way with artists such as Acizm, Thraxxy, Reapa and Beggar and would also love to collab with artists such as Lee Munro, Mitchos Da Menace, Nelson Dialect and the queen of Aussie hip hop Sampa the Great, not to mention international acts such as The Four Owls, Curtis Roach and Earl Sweatshirt.

St. Bedlam has some words of wisdom to share with up and comers in the overall hip hop scene as well. That with the busier one gets it is important to keep grinding with working on the business and creative side, sometimes slowing down helps with the creative process as well. Admiring local and regional acts is always important to St. Bedlam also. St. Bedlam supports Swiftboi and Thraxxy because of their genuine approach and also Kayzer Man who is expected to blow up beyond the local scene. Also a last reminder was provided for other hip hop artists in the game, never quit, if you love it you keep working at it and no one ever got anywhere by hiding, so remember to put yourself out there. Know your worth and get paid for your work! Stay respectful to everyone and learn how to hold a microphone!
